Kaargo Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information that applies to the KAARGO website(s), mobile application(s) and services (collectively, the “KAARGO Platform”).

KAARGO cares about the integrity and security of your personal information.  You understand that by using the KAARGO Platform you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information and aggregated data on the KAARGO Platform.  The privacy of our users is important to us.  However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our security measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.  You acknowledge that you provide your personal information at your own risk.

We collect the following types of personal information:  name, username, birthdate, e-mail address and vehicle make/model, as well as any information necessary to use and become a member of the KAARGO Platform when you register.  You may also provide us with your financial information for verification and transaction processing.  We may retain any communications you send on the KAARGO Platform, and may collect information you provide in any content you post onto the KAARGO Platform (the “User Content”).  We may use this information to operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionality of the KAARGO Platform.

Analytics information.

We (or our authorized partners) may collect analytics data, or use third-party analytics tools, to help us measure traffic and usage trends.  We collect and use this analytics information in aggregate form such that it cannot reasonably be manipulated to identify any particular individual user.

Cookies information.

When you visit the KAARGO website(s), we may send one or more cookies — a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters — to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and lets KAARGO learn about your usage patterns and enhance your navigation through the KAARGO website(s).  A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive after you close your browser.  Persistent cookies may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the site.  Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions.  A session cookie is temporary and disappears after you close your browser.  You can reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.  However, some features of the KAARGO website(s) may not function properly if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.

Commercial and marketing communications.

We may send emails containing newsletters and promotions.  If you do not want to receive such emails, you may opt out.  We also use your information to send you KAARGO Platform-related emails (e.g., account verification, purchase and billing confirmations, changes to features of the KAARGO Platform).  You may not opt out of KAARGO Platform-related e-mails.

Sharing of Your Information.

We will not rent or sell your information to third parties without your consent.  We may share your information with third-party business partners for the purpose of providing the KAARGO Platform to you.  Those partners will be given limited access to your information as is reasonably necessary to deliver the KAARGO Platform.  As a user, when you register, we will share information with the KAARGO community necessary to use the KAARGO Platform.  This information includes but is not limited to your user-name, name, reviews, photographs, trip details and contact information.

Who you may choose to share your User Content with.

Any information or content that you voluntarily disclose on the KAARGO Platform, such as User Content, becomes viewable and searchable by other KAARGO users.  If you remove information that you posted to the KAARGO Platform, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the KAARGO Platform.  You may also choose to share your location, name, or other identifying information or User Content on third party services like Facebook or Twitter through the use of functionality we provide on the KAARGO Platform.  If you choose to share your information on these third party services note that such information may be collected and used in accordance with that third party service’s own rules and policies.  This Privacy Policy does not govern the collection or use of your information on third party services, and you agree that if you choose to share your information or User Content on a third party website(s) or service (like Facebook) you do so at your own risk.

Keeping your information safe.

To protect your privacy and data, KAARGO takes reasonable industry standard safeguards (such as requiring a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account.  You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information.  However, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to KAARGO or guarantee that information on the KAARGO Platform may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.  Your privacy settings may also be affected by changes of third party sites and services that are added to the KAARGO Platform, such as social networks.  KAARGO is not responsible for the functionality or security measures of any third party.

Notification of Security Breach.

In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and notify those persons whose information may have been compromised.

How long we keep your User Content.

Following termination or deactivation of your User account, KAARGO may retain your profile information and User Content for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, or audit purposes.

KAARGO may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect the changes in our business and practices, and so you should review this page periodically.  When we change the policy in a material manner we will let you know and update the ‘last modified’ date at the bottom of this page.
